Hambagu - ハンバーグ

















Makes 4 patties

Ingredients


250g minced beef
200g minced pork
1/2 finely chopped onion
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1 cup panko (japanese bread crumb)
salt and pepper
vegetable oil , for frying
3 Tbsp ketchup
3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce


Method


  1. Heat oil in a saucepan and fry onion until brown, set aside.
  2. Soak panko in milk.
  3. Put onion, panko in milk, salt, pepper and egg in a bowl and mix well with a fork.
  4. Add ground beef and pork to the above mixture and combine ingredients with hand.
  5. Make four meat balls and toss each ball from one hand to the other hand repeatedly.
  6. Make four patties and indent the center of each one with a finger.Heat oil in a pan and saute patties over medium heat.
  7. Turn over and saute the other side.  Add 1/4 cup of hot water in the pan and put lid and steam the patties for a few minutes.
  8. Remove the lid and cook until the water is almost gone. Transfer hamburgers into individual plates.
  9. Add ketchup and Worcestershire sauce in the pan after hamburgers are removed and cook until it looks like a sauce.
  10. Serve the hambagu with the sauce on top.
